The beautiful beaches in and around the city are very inviting for a jog or a stroll, in winter and in summer. San Francisco has more restaurants per head than most other cities in the USA. It is the home of ballet, a famous Symphony Orchestra, and of many theaters and museums. Beyond the Golden Gate Bridge is Marin County with great forests of Redwood, and Napa Valley, very famous for its wine. The bay area encompasses the hills of 'East Bay': Berkeley, Hayward and Oakland, as well as 'Silicon Valley'.
The very lively atmosphere in the streets of San Francisco fascinates visitors as well as permanent residents again and again.
