Berkeley is situated on the eastern banks of San Francisco Bay and home to the University of California, in which you will find students from all over the world. This small city with approx. 100'000 inhabitants is very lively and has the charm of a typical student city. In Berkeley you will have the opportunity to do many very different free time activities and to get to know the «American Way of Life» at close hand. For those who want to see the attractions und famous sights of San Francisco, the city of the Golden Gate Bridge can be reached with the Underground, (BART) in approx. 30 minutes. The Fisherman’s Wharf, the Habour region, Chinatown and the Golden Gate Park are well worth seeing. Napa Valley, where the Californian wine is grown, is not too far away, and the Yosemite National Park and Lake Tahoe are good to see.
